LEARNING SUPPORT: The Learning Support teacher works with children for all areas of the school and has a primary role of working with teachers in addressing the special needs of individual children. Children are referred by teachers for assessment and/or assistance in Literacy, Numeracy or any other factor which may be affecting the child's learning. This referral can also be made by parents. The Learning Support teacher also co-ordinates referrals to and visits from other specialists, such as the Guidance Counsellor, Speech Pathologist and Occupational Therapist. Our learning support teacher is assisted by a learning enhancement teacher who works with small groups of children on a needs basis throughout the middle and senior school. These groups can be short or long term and support specific curriculum needs of children in literacy and numeracy. ENRICHMENT SUPPORT: In 2002 the focus of our Enrichment Program will be Information Technology. We have commited one full time teacher to co-ordinate an information Technology Program involving all children, utilizing our new Technology Centre. This will take the place of the Enrichment program that we have implemented over recent years. |
