ENROLMENT
POLICY AND PROCEDURES
A - Policy
St
Martin's School has been established primarily to provide a Catholic
Education for the children of families who are active in Our Lady of
Graces Parish, Carina. While first priority is given to these families,
consideration is given to the enrolment of Catholic children from
families who do not have an association with Our Lady of Graces Parish,
including children from families living outside the Parish boundaries
and non-Catholic children.
Criteria for Enrolment
- Children enrolling for the Prep Year must turn 5 by
30th June in the year they will complete the Prep Year.
- Children enrolling for Year One must have turned 5 by
31 December in the year prior to enrolment, this is until 2007.
- Children enrolling for Year One from 2008 must turn 6
by 30th June in the year thry will complete Year One.
Priority of enrolment is decided as follows:
- The child is
a baptised Catholic, with siblings at St Martin's School whose family
worships at Our Lady of Graces Church or at another Catholic Church.
- The child is a baptised Catholic, whose family
worships at Our Lady of Graces Church and involved in the Parish.
- The child is a baptised Catholic, whose family is
involved in another Catholic Parish.
- The child is NOT a baptised Catholic, and does have
siblings at St Martin's School.
- The child is NOT a baptised Catholic, and does NOT
have siblings at St Martin's School.
The Principal, in
consultation with the Parish Priest, may exercise discretion regarding
applications where pastoral considerations apply, and therefore may
determine a child's eligibility beyond the stated criteria.
It is strongly recommended that families new to the area take the
opportunity to meet the Parish Priest. Arrangements to meet the Parish
Priest can be made by contacting the parish secretary by phoning
33982977.
B - Enrolment Procedures
- Applications for
enrolment for Preschool, Prep Year and Year One at St Martin's can be
made up to two years before the anticipated enrolment. Application
forms are available from the school office. A $44 enrolment fee is
required for all applications.
- Family interviews,
along with the child, are held with a member of the administration team
during Term 2 of the year prior to eligibility for attending. Parents
are requested to send copies of both birth and baptismal certificates,
immunization records and a recent photograph of their child to the
interview.
- Places will be offered
(in writing) during June/July. An enrolment fee is required to confirm
this placement. (This fee is deducted from your fees in the first term
of the year.)
- Orientation days will
be held for all new Prep and Year One children during Term 4.
- An evening for New
Parents is held during Term 4.
Enrolments
Years 2 - 7

Applications for enrolment are given out on request.
- A family interview, along with the child, will be
held with a member of the administration team.
- Copies of birth and baptismal certificates should be
provided together with copies of recent school reports or letters from
previous school.
- Confirmation of enrolment will be by letter.
